iPhone 3G “No SIM card installed.” Problem Solution

“After waiting for 4 hours at my local Apple store, I finally got my iPhone. Like everyone else, I was so excited and hurried home. When I got home, I started to play around with it. When I handled the iPhone, I noticed that the bottom felt hot. Without taking much notice of it, I continue to set it up and try all sort of cool things that can be done using this phone.

I wanted to try this possible fix, however I cannot get past the No SIM card installed screen. Insert a valid SIM with no PIN lock to activate iPhone. When I hit the “i” info button, it says IMEI:01 171200 870226 5 and ICCID: Unknown and the iTunes icon is at the top of the screen.
    Thanks,
    Paula

I have completed numerous tasks to evaluate, troubleshoot, come to an absolute finding and share the same. No wild goose chases here, the problem is, without any doubt; temperature changes … particularly at night when typically the temperature drops. The SIM Card tray is is “flimsy” and extremely temperature sensitive. This causes expansion and/or contraction of the tray. There is nothing at all w/your SIM Card. The solution is simple. Keep your phone at room temperature at all times. Cycle your phone off and on and keep it warm, not hot or cold and be aware of temperature changes. This happens mostly frequently at night while you are sleeping. It puts you at risk should you have to dial 911. I hope this helps … Mark

I opened my iPhone 3G and found that one of the prongs from the SIM card reader has broken off. I found a video on youtube showing a fix that requires a new part and soldering. Dr. Cell Phone, can you fix this?

I have been having this problem lately. I found that simply popping out the SIM card, then inserting it again fixes the recognition of the SIM card by the phone. It is annoying though.

I experienced this No Sim CARD installed MESSAGE on my iPhone 3gs 16GB and this is HOW I fixed it.

    1. Press the home or menu button down to shut the iPhone completely off
For those that don,t know this its that circle button on the bottom of your iPhone screen.

    2. Take the Sim card out with the smallest paper clip you can find
The Sim card is located at the top of your iPhone near the microphone hole,
now look closely for a very small hole opening put the tip of the paper clip in the tiny hole and press down the Sim card should come out with a tiny tray.

    3. Next put the Sim card and tray back in the same slot that it came out of and press the circle button on your iPhone screen to turn it on,now wait till it loads up you will see that the No Sim card installed message is gone.

4.Don,t worry. You will not loose none of your numbers, pictures, text messages,Emails info or data on your iPhone so don’t panic.
    Hope i helped someone Today.
