iPhone 5 Release comes one step closer: iPhone 4 Repair prices drop

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

According to a new report released Wednesday by DigiTimes, Pegatron will start shipping the new iPhone 5 handset to Apple in September. According to industry sources quoted in the report, Pegatron will move up to become the secondary original design manufacturer (or ‘ODM’) for the iPhone, with orders totaling 10 million units of Apple’s fifth-generation handset.

iPhone 5 Repair coming soon

iPhone 5 Repair coming soon

Other sources quoted in the report stated that Pegatron is moving to try to earn more work from Apple. Since Pegatron’s margins on iPhone handsets are “relatively small”, the company has retooled factories and trained up staff to try to earn some of Apple’s iPad and MacBook manufacturing business. The report indicates that Foxconn has worked with Apple to ensure that their relationship is strong and that the orders for Apple’s wildly selling iPhone and iPad models continue to come to Foxconn as the primary manufacturer.

Just a few weeks ago, DigiTimes released a report claiming that Pegatron had received an order from Apple for up to 15 million units of the iPhone 5. The most recent report reduced that number from 15 to 10 million handsets, which some may recall was the figure claimed by reports back in late January. As Pegatron is a very experienced manufacturing partner and has worked with major volumes in the past, hitting this 10 million mark likely won’t present too much of a challenge.

As we move closer to the expected launch and release date of iPhone 5, rumors and speculation abound about when the handset will actually end up in the hands of consumers. At Dr. Cell Phone the trend in iPhone 4 repairs has slightly gone up, people want to get iphone 5 and get the existing phone fixed in the meantime. As always whenever newer models come out, the older ones prices go down and so is the case with repair services. iphone 4 cracked screen replacement went down from $149.99 to $124.99. “This is the best time to get your iphone 4’s and iphone 3gs fixed” Says the lead tech at Dr. Cell Phone. He adds, “As there is a little bit of time before the new iphone 5 comes out, you could save some money by getting your phone fixed now and not buying a new device which would be obsolete in few days.”

We will keep you posted on news regarding iphone 5. We are expecting to do a “Take iphone 5 apart” guide with a video tutorial for all the iphone enthusiasts out there. Stay tuned.

Google launches iPhone app for Google+

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

Google+ has an iPhone app, and it’s now available for free download in Apple’s App Store.

At first blush, the iOS version of the Google+ app doesn’t look all that dissimilar from the Android version. iPhone Repair at Dr. Cell Phone

And that’s not a bad thing as the main features between the two apps are in place — the Stream, Circles and Huddles.

Of course, the mobile apps are limited and aren’t nearly as capable as the desktop in-browser version of Google+. For example, there are no group-video-chat Hangouts available in the apps.

As of about 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Google+ app for iOS was available in the App Store via iTunes but not on iOS devices themselves. Vic Gondotra, who is heading up Google+, said on Google+ that the app “should be rolling out over the next few hours.”

The Google+ iOS app works with any iPhone and iPod Touch running iOS 3.1 or newer (sorry iPhone 1 users).

Add Dr. Cell Phone on Google + and stay tuned to the latest Apple updates and more importantly updates on iphone repairs.

Google launched its an iOS app to use its Google+ service today, an important milestone for the fledgling social network that today caters to the techie in-crowd.

Google Senior Vice President Vic Gundotra announced the iOS Google+ app today. “Share just the right stuff, with just the right circles,” he said.

Google+ expanded to reach more than 10 million people last week and still is growing. When it launched, Google issued an
Android app to use it, but iOS customers were left only with the Web interface.

Like the Android app, the iOS version lets people monitor their stream of posts from people they follow, the “incoming” posts from people who follow them, and nearby posts from those who are geographically proximate.

It also lets people publish posts to circles, the groups of people that Google+ users define when they want to communicate with a private group.

Also in the mobile app is the huddle feature to set up impromptu chat rooms with contacts.

iPhone Touchscreen troubleshooting with Solution from Dr. Cell Phone

Thursday, July 7th, 2011

Symptoms

Your iPhone or iPod touch may experience one of the following symptoms:

 • Multi-Touch display (or touchscreen) does not respond
 • Portions of the Multi-Touch display do not respond
 • Multi-Touch display is very slow to respond

Resolution

If your device is experiencing any of the symptoms listed above, try the following steps:

 1. Clean the iPhone screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
 2. Do not wear gloves while using the Multi-Touch display. Do not use the touchscreen with wet hands or immediately after applying hand lotion. Moisture affects touchscreen behavior in the same manner as it affects a trackpad.
 3. If you have a protective plastic sheet or film on the touchscreen, try removing it. It may be preventing the touchscreen from working properly.
 4. If that doesn’t work, turn the device off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top of the device for few seconds until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
 5. If the device did not turn off, reset it. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for a least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

If the steps above don’t resolve your issue, please walk-in to one of Dr. Cell Phone Repair Centers in Dallas, Frisco, Addison, Houston or Sugar Land Tx. If you do not live in close proximity to these areas you can visit www.drcellphone.com and arrange for a mail-in repair with Dr. Cell Phone. Most iPhone touchscreen problems are fixed in under an hour however for an accurate time estimate call the local repair facility by visiting Dr. Cell Phone website.

Note: iPhone Touchscreen replacement service currently available at Dr. Cell Phone includes repairs for models iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. iPhone 5 or the newer iPhone 4S or whatever apple names it, would be added to the list of available repair services right after its official launch by the manufacturer.

iPad Won’t Turn On ?, Here is the solution from the Doc

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

If your iPad won’t turn on, don’t panic. Normally, an iPad is in “suspend mode”, which means it is waiting for you to press the home button or the sleep/wake button to activate it. But it is possible for the iPad to be completely turned off, which is usually the case when you find that your iPad won’t turn on.

iPad Repair at Dr. Cell Phone

iPad Repair at Dr. Cell Phone

Here’s what to do:

 1. Hold both the home button and the wake/suspend button down at the same time. You should see the Apple logo appear on your screen after holding these buttons down a couple of seconds, which means your iPad is booting up and should be good to go in a few more seconds.
 2. If the iPad does not boot up after a few seconds, the battery may be completely drained. The iPad comes with both a 30-pin connector and an adapter that allows you to plug it into a wall outlet. Use this to charge the iPad rather than plugging it into your computer. After letting it charge for at least thirty minutes, try repeating step one. Your iPad should boot up fine. Find out what you can do to save battery life.
 3. If your iPad still won’t turn on, there may be a hardware failure. The easiest solution is to locate the nearest Dr. Cell Phone Repair Center. Dr. Cell Phone Techs can be very helpful in determining if there is a true hardware issue. If there is no store nearby, you can contact Dr. Cell Phone. to arrange youriPadto be mailed in to their headquarters.

iPhone 5 Repair Facts with some release rumors.

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

With the iPad 2 ’s launch internationally last Friday, it’s time to set our eyes upon the next big thing… the iPhone 5?s debut in June or July. Apple certainly is: China Times is reporting that the iPhone 5 has entered trial production and is scheduled for wide scale release in Q3 of this year, which aligns with the iPhone’s traditional late June / early July release date.

iPhone 5 Repair

iPhone 5 Repair

As for what the iPhone 5 will look like, the latest report supports rumors suggesting that the iPhone 5 will mostly be similar to an iPhone 4s, with the major differences being a slightly larger 4-inch touchscreen in the same form factor (accomplished by having less room between the side bezels of the device), as well as a metal chassis to make the device lighter and improve antenna sensitivity.

Coupled with an A5 processor and a new aluminum back plate, it sounds like the iPhone 5 — while not quite the evolutionary leap that the iPhone 4 was — will be a bit more than just the iPhone 4s many people anticipated this generation.

With all the iPhone 5 Rumors making rounds, here are some facts with Repairs! Dr. Cell Phone is all set to extend their repair services to the newest iPhone 5 to be launched this year.

“We have been providing repair services for all kinds of cell phones currently in the market ranging from Apple, HTC, BlackBerry, Motorola, Samsung, Nokia, LG and Sidekick, with our current expertise and extensive experience , we can confidently promise the iPhone 5 Repair services right from the day its launched.” , says Rob, CEO of Dr. Cell Phone.

The biggest problem with the iPhone so far has been the cracked screen or the shattered screen which makes the screen almost unusable, some times the phone after having a fall breaks into pieces and forms a shape resembling spider web on the face glass plate. iPhone 5 cracked screen repair or the iPhone 5 glass screen repair would be made available along with other repair services such as LCD (or if an AMOLED is used ) Replacement Service, Charging Port repair and Battery Replacement.

All of the repair services will be made available at all of our repair facilities in Dallas, Frisco, Addison and Uptown Dallas in DFW Metroplex along with Houston, Sugar Land, Katy, Cypress and North Houston in Greater Houston Metropolitan Area. The expedited mail-in repair service for customers outside of Texas will also be made available with an attempt to reduce the turn around time to 4 hours which is currently about 12 hours. With lots of better shipping options, people will have an opportunity to get their phone fixed in a matter of day or two.

Verizon iPhone 4 Confirmed – Repair Services Already available at Dr. Cell Phone

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011

Apple and Verizon Wireless on Tuesday launched a CDMA-only version of the iPhone 4 — no “world phone” and no LTE 4G capabilities on board — which was the safest bet Verizon and Apple could make. It means Apple’s Wunderphone will be available to Verizon’s 93 million subscribers soon rather than later, according to Apple COO Tim Cook.

Verizon iPhone 4 repair available at Dr. Cell Phone

Verizon iPhone 4 repair available at Dr. Cell Phone

The device will go on sale to existing Verizon Wireless customers on February 3 for $199 for the 16GB version and $299 for the 32GB version (same as AT&T’s prices). The Verizon iPhone 4 will be more widely available starting February 10 via most of Verizon’s sale channels.

Verizon did not detail what voice, data, and messaging plans would cost for the new iPhone. Most users should expect a voice and data plan similar to Verizon’s other smartphones, however, which run about $70 per month ($40 voice + $30 data).

When comparing the feature lists of two iPhone 4s, there are but two differences. First, the Verizon iPhone can act as a mobile hotspot, allowing up to five other devices to access Verizon’s 3G network. Verizon didn’t say how much this would cost. AT&T’s iPhone can tether to laptops, but not act as a hotspot. Second, the iPhone 4 on Verizon cannot handle simultaneous voice and data calls (which the AT&T iPhone can do). This is because of the differences between CDMA and GSM cellular radio systems, and isn’t a feature purposely omitted.

As far as physical differences go, the only ones that are visible to the naked are are the black antenna bands on the sides of the iPhone 4. Other than that, it has the same dimensions, same weight, same battery life, same Retina Display that the original iPhone 4 has.

During the Q&A session, Apple’s Cook reiterated that it is bringing the iPhone 4 — with the same feature set, just a different radio inside — to market now because it felt the pressure from Verizon Wireless’ customers to deliver the iPhone as soon as possible. That means no LTE 4G. Cook said that LTE also required design compromises (probably antenna and battery life-related) that Apple wasn’t ready to make.

Now coming to the repair options that have been already available with Dr. Cell Phone for AT&T iPhone 4, would they be available for Verizon iPhone at same cost ? Rob Noorani, the CEO of Dr. Cell Phone conformed and assured that all the repair services would be available including Cracked iPhone Screen Repair at similar prices. He said, “Now with more locations through out Texas, in two major metropolitan areas Dallas and Houston, Customers have option to get their iPhones fixed at a location nearest to them. All of the existing locations and new upcoming locations would offer walk-in repairs”.

Verizon LTE vs. The Rest: 4G Smackdown

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010

Verizon’s 4G LTE service goes live Sunday in 39 cities, growing the field of companies offering fast mobile broadband 4G service. Verizon joins Sprint and T-Mobile which are also hawking wireless services at 4G dataspeeds. Meanwhile lesser-known providers such as Clear and Metro PCS are getting in on the action as well.

Who has the best deals, fastest speeds, best coverage in the U.S.? As you know picking the best – and fastest – wireless broadband service is relative to your needs. Here PCWorld assembled a brief overview of what each competitor is offering. The accompanying chart will break it down even more for you. But one important disclaimer first. The information provided in the chart is a combination of data from PC World tests, vender provided data, and a bit from third-party sources.

Verizon Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4G

Verizon LTE 4G Phone Repairs available at Dr. Cell Phone

Verizon LTE 4G Phone Repairs available at Dr. Cell Phone

Pros: Verizon has the fastest speeds of any 4G network, at 5 Mbps to 12 Mbps download and 2 Mbps to 5 Mbps upload. The price for hotspot coverage is cheaper than Sprint.

Cons: Phones won’t be available until mid-2011, and the data caps are a downer.

Sprint Wi-Max 4G

Pros: Unlimited data makes Sprint’s 4G a haven for data hogs, and solid phones are available in HTC’s Evo 4G and Samsung’s Epic 4G. Cheap hotspot hardware at $50 per month after rebate.

Cons: Average speeds are slower than Verizon at 3 Mbps to 6 Mbps download and up to 1 Mbps upload, and more expensive. Hotspot service is a hefty $30 per month on phones.

T-Mobile HSPA+

Pros: Service doesn’t cost extra, good phones in the G2 and MyTouch 4G, video chat over 4G. Laptop USB stick is free with two-year contract.

Cons: Not really 4G, with slower speeds of 1.5 Mbps to 3.5 in testing. No standalone hotspots available.

Metro PCS LTE 4G

Pros: Dirt cheap at $55 per month.

Cons: You get what you pay for, with average speeds of 700 kbps in testing, according to GigaOM. Samsung Craft feature phone costs $300.

Clear Wi-Max 4G

Pros: Cheapest unlimited hotspot coverage at $45 per month with $99 hotspot. Same network as Sprint.

Cons: No phones, no 3G fallback in cities without 4G.

Clearwire Rover Wi-Max 4G

Pros: Maximum flexibility with plans at $5 per day, $20 per week and $50 per month, and no-contract Rover Puck hotspot for $150. Same network as Sprint.

Cons: No phones, no 3G fallback in cities without 4G.

Verizon iPhone 4 Confirmed: Repair Options already available.

Friday, November 19th, 2010

Verizon iPhone 4: Has Verizon CEO Admitted To Getting iPhone? Verizon has finally seemingly confirmed what appeared to be an obvious fact for ages. Verizon Wireless will indeed be offering a device called the Verizon iPhone 4 in the near future, if various anlyses of his recent statement are to be believed. Apple though has chosen to keep mum on this matter even now that people have really got fed up of asking.

Verizon iphone 4 repair service at Dr. Cell Phone

Verizon iphone 4 repair service at Dr. Cell Phone

However, amidst the resentful silence of Steve Jobs, the Chief Executive Officer of Verizon Wireless has spoken up and made sure that everyone is hearing. Verizon CEO has confirmed that Apple has indeed offered the big reds a piece of the fourth generation of the iPhone but he also said that the smartphone would not be launched by him.

He said Apple would be entitled to the launch announcement for the same. May be he feels that is only just given how Mr. Jobs is splendid at introducing new products to the market and to the media and the buyers.

No, the Verizon boss did not say it all at once but saved his skin from the people by admitting what really is nothing but a fact. This time around the big reds CEO had more to say than the arbitrary possibility of an iPhone deal. The statements from the carrier have just gotten bolder and bolder. One of the key features of the iPhone ads being aired by Verizon is a complete thrashing of AT&T as the network carrying the iPhone from Apple.

However, there had also been reports of T-mobile being in the frame as far as the iPhone 4 is concerned; but alas that is not to be. T-Mobile has confirmed that they do not have the iPhone 4 yet, and the Verizon iPhone 4 is the only real news. However, facts keep changing with time and we hope this one does too.

As far as the repair services are concerned specially the cracked screen repair or the antenna repairs, most repairs that are already available for AT&T iPhone 4 will remain the same for Verizon iPhone 4. Dr. Cell Phone continues to offer 30 min turn around time on most iPhone’s brought in for repairs. Mail-in repairs turn around time remains as low as one business day.
