Let’s face it, the Verizon HTC Thunderbolt is dead sexy yet simple. The 4.3-inch Android smartphone packs a monstrous 4.3-inch display and 4G LTE capability, making it the closest thing to Sprint’s HTC Evo 4G on the market today.

HTC Thunderbolt release date ahead of others
At the CES 2011 on January 6th, Verizon Wireless is expected to showcase a host of LTE handsets. While Motorola and Samsung have both boasted about working on LTE devices, all eyes are on HTC to be the first to release a 4G LTE smartphone on Big Red. Why? HTC was the first with a 4G WiMAX phone on Sprint (HTC Evo 4G) and the first on T-Mobile (G2). Furthermore, the HTC Thunderbolt has been floating around the Web for longer than any other LTE handset, under the guise of HTC Mecha and HTC Incredible HD.
Furthermore, while the Motorola Etna and Samsung’s LTE handset are yet to be seen, the HTC Thunderbolt has a dozen HQ images like the one above floating around the Web at the moment. Whether they are an intentional leak to build up hype before CES 2011 however remains debatable.
HTC Thunderbolt specs
The Thunderbolt is expected to pack a 4.3-inch display, 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, front-facing camera, microSD card, 1GHz processor
(there is also rumors of a dual core although they had died down after the Samsung Nexus S was released).
Lastly there is the beautiful Google branded steel or possibly aluminum kickstand which not only lets you watch media more comfortably but hopefully means that the Verizon-bound Android won’t come with Bing.
With a few more days to go before CES 2011, all will be revealed about the HTC Thunderbolt.

The smartphone war has heated up over the last few years. While there were plenty of smartphones and PDAs out there in the wild well before the launch of the original iPhone, we all know what happened to the market the moment the iDevice hit the scene. And now, as our smartphones get smarter, and there’s further integration with our favorite social networking sites –like Facebook–, it’s come to TechCrunch‘s attention that the social networking giant is now currently working on their very own, low-end phone.
Cell Phone Repair at Dr. Cell Phone
Reportedly, Joe Hewitt and Matthew Papakipos have been drafted into the project of building the “Facebook phone,” and “are secretly working on the project” right now. All of this is coming down the pipe from a “source who has knowledge of the project,” as all of these things usually do. Facebook is apparently concerned with the presence that Apple and Google have in the market, and the way that they have so eloquently integrated social networking into their devices. We’ve seen how well that Android integrates the service, and there’s apps in the App Store to make sure that your contacts in your iPhone are synced, too. Apparently, Facebook sees these companies as competitors now. However, the report suggests that Facebook would actually market their phone in the lower-end, where it wouldcost something like $50 or less. We’re not sure that’s necessarily a direct competitor to the iPhone or any high-end Android device.
There’s plenty of questions in here. But, as Facebook quickly clarified, they aren’t working on a phone. However, it looks like they went out of their way to put a “not going to happen” sticker on this rumor. Most companies would have just said something along the lines of “We do not comment on rumors,” or something to that effect. But, no, Facebook’s PR team managed to put a lot of effort into their denial, saying that Facebook is continuously finding new ways to integrate their services, but that they are notworking on a phone.
Both Hewitt and Papakipos have worked in the mobile space, and we imagine that if anyone anywhere near Facebook would be named in this report, it would be them. But, does Facebook really see an opportunity to make a super-cheap device that integrates your contacts into Facebook, despite the fact that many people out their already have a device that does exactly that? If TechCrunch is accurate in their speculation and sources, then it looks like within the next year or so Facebook will pop out their own “Facebook phone.” Will the masses race towards it like the company would certainly hope they would? Guess we’ll just have to wait and find out. Let us know in the comments what you think of a Facebook phone.

Remember the halcyon days of last week, when the Fring iPhone app supported video calls over 3G to any Fring or Skype user? Fun while it lasted. Today comes news that Skype has blocked Fring altogether. Or did they?
Dr. Cell Phone Provides repairs for iPhone 4, HTC EVO 4G and other video calling devices
The reported move ends a beautiful four year relationship between Fring and Skype. After the updated Fring app launched, a huge volume of calls caused necessitated that Fring “temporarily reduce support” to Skype. At that point, according to a Fring spokesperson, Skype “demanded that [they] NOT restore connectivity.”
As often happens in a messy breakup, Skype has a different version of events, stating unequivocally that “there is no truth to Fring’s claims that Skype blocked them, it was their decision and choice to withdraw Skype functionality.” At the same time, they make clear that Fring violated Skype’s terms by “misusing the Skype software in ways which it was not designed for and which does not scale to meet consumer demand.”
So in a nutshell, if I’m parsing this correctly: Fring introduces great Skype functionality foriPhone 4 video chat. Demand for said functionality causes Fring to temporarily pull Skype support. Pulling Skype support suddenly violates Skype license agreement, ergo Skype will no longer play nice with Fring. Or not, depending on who you ask.
The fact remains that no matter how much he said/she said gets thrown about here, we all just lost a pretty killer feature.
This whole ordeal also raises a bigger question: why is there no Skype app for iPhone that supports video chat? Or that does iOS4 background calling? It’s clear that Skype is acting defensively in this case; I just wish they had something more robust that they were defending, since third parties like Fring have to date been our only option.
we understand how painful it is when the Screen on your loved video chat device (iPhone 4 or Evo 4G) breaks, thats why we continue to offer same day repair service for Cracked Screen repair on all higher end PDA’s. Do recommend us to any of your friends and family to get their phone back on track in no time.
If you guys know any other application that supports video chat on Apple iPhone 4 or EVO 4G feel free to share your thoughts and comments.

HTC has admitted to the brower issue with its HTC Droid Incredible and confirms that a simple factory reset does not wipe out the browsing history of its owner. While this may not be a serious problem unless you plan to sell your HTC Incredible or possibly send it in for repair, HTC advises that they are working on a software update that will be rolled out soon in order to rectify the problem.
HTC Incredible Software & Hardware Repairs available at Dr. Cell Phone
In the meantime, HTC has provided simple step-by-step instructions on how to clear your browsing history from the Droid Incredible.
HTC’s instructions to clear browsing history in the HTC Incredible:
- Go to the “Settings” menu
- Select “SD Card and Phone Storage”
- Select “Format Phone Storage”
*NOTE* This will delete all files in internal storage, including music and image files. So these files should be backed up before taking these steps.
Other Android devices with HTC Sense, like the DROID Eris, save these thumbnails to the SD card, instead of internal memory, so users can easily keep this information from being shared simply by removing the SD card from their device before trading in the device, sending in for repair, etc.
If for any reason this fix doesn’t work out the way it should and if you still happen to have problem with your HTC Incredible, send in your phone to Dr. Cell Phone Repair labs for Software diagnostic and fix. Dr. Cell Phone expert technicians and Software engineers will work out a solution for your phone.

Sprint’s EVO 4G smartphone is set to launch on June 4th, and we’re gearing up to help service what promises to be one of the most popular smartphones – even rivaling the iPhone. One of the most exciting features? Access to Spring 4G coverage for EVO users in 27 cities around the country (and slated access to Miami, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City, New York City, Houston, Boston, Washington, D.C., Kansas City, Denver, Minneapolis, and the San Francisco Bay Area by the end of the year).
Sprint Evo 4G specifications: Repair services to be available at Dr. Cell Phone
But access to Sprint’s 4G network doesn’t come close to describing the EVO’s best features. Specifications for the Sprint HTC EVO 4G include:
• Android 2.1 with HTC Sense 2.5 experience
• 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor
• 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash for crisp, detailed images and support for 720p video capture
• Front facing 1.3 megapixel camera for video chat with Qik application
• 4.3 inch WVGA (480×800) capacitive touch display
• Dedicated, touch-sensitive Home, Menu, Back and Search areas
• Proximity sensor, light sensor and digital compass
• Integrated GPS
• Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g)
• Bluetooth 2.1
• FM radio
• 3.5 mm headset jack
• microSD card slot with included 8GB card
• Integrated WiMAX radio for 4G access and WiFi Hotspot capability
• Loaded Sprint apps, including Sprint Navigation, Sprint TV, Sprint Football, and NASCAR Mobile
• Friend Stream for unified Flickr, Facebook and Twitter updates
• Leap view for quick access to all seven home screen panels
• Dimensions: 4.8 x 2.6 x 0.5 inches and 6 ounces
As Matthew Miller points out in his review of the Sprint HTC EVO 4G on ZDnet, the phone has amazing specs that other phones can’t touch: the EVO has a larger screen, 8 megapixel camera, and better video camera than its closest competitor, the newly-released HTC Droid Incredible. Sprint’s HTC EVO runs on the latest Google Android 2.1 OS – the latest Android operating system to date — among other cool HTC EVO features that we’ve previously covered.
And the EVO’s “FriendStream” is one of the most user-friendly aspects of the phone for social networking: a unified interface shows updates and allows users easy access to Facebook, Flickr, and Twitter. Look for a similar features from phones in the near future, as manufacturer’s aim to please our social networking infatuation.
The Sprint HTC EVO will be available at Radio Shack and Best Buy. Price tag: $199, with a $100 mail-in rebate and a 2-year voice and data contract. Activating the phone’s WiFi HotSpot functionality (which allows you to turn your phone into a WiFi HotSpot for up to 8 other users) will run you around $29.99 a month, and access to unlimited 4G and 3G data will cost an extra $10 a month on Sprint. Expect to see a run on this phone – the Sprint HTC EVO is definitely one of the most anticipated phones of 2010.
We’re excited to see the Sprint HTC EVO launch next week, and as always we’re keeping on top of the latest developments: Dr. Cell Phone plans to offer repair services for the Sprint HTC EVO beginning on June 4th, 2010 for both walk in customers at any of our repair centers, as well as mail-in repairs for nationwide customers.

The latest Android flavor of the week is the Droid Incredible from HTC.
But T-Mobile wants you to keep an eye out for its myTouch line, which gets a robust update in the myTouch 3G Slide. This new landscape slider, which comes out in June, takes a lot of the best attributes of HTC’s Sense user interface and builds another layer on top.
HTC MyTouch Repair Service at Dr. Cell Phone
It creates an even more polished experience, with added touches from T-Mobile that make the phone more social and helpful for users than its predecessor.
The main improvements include a Faves Gallery for up to 20 of your favorite people. This specialized contacts application lets you see all your communications with your favorite people and prioritizes your updates from those people. For instance, your phone will flash a green light when one of your Faves contacts communicates with you.
There’s a Genius Button that lets you activate voice commands for making calls, composing texts and e-mails, conducting Web searches or launching applications. The feature will also read incoming text messages.
And finally, there’s myModes, which builds off the Sense interface themes. Themes allow you to customize your interface for different occasions, say for work, evenings and weekends. MyModes automates the switching between themes based on the time of day or your location. So it can switch from work mode to home mode when you leave the office or hit a certain point in the day.
MyTouch 3G Slide also has full Microsoft Exchange support as well as the ability to run seven panes from the home screen.
The phone also boasts a full slide-out keyboard without adding much bulk to the body. The camera gets an upgrade to 5 megapixels and the screen is bumped up to 3.4 inches. It will run Android 2.1, which includes free turn-by-turn navigation.
This adds momentum to the fast-growing Android platform. We’re still waiting for Apple’s fourth-generation iPhone, expected to be released in June, but the well of Android competition keeps getting deeper.
With the release of two new highly sophisticated touch screen phones HTC myTouch and HTC Incredible, Repair services at Dr. Cell Phone continue to help people who remain uncovered from the manufacturer warranty. Dr. Cell Phone provides the most affordable HTC Repairs for both walk-in customers in Dallas, Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Allen, Fort worth and Houston TX and Mail-in customers from all across the united states.

Verify that the issue is indeed with the Touch Screen rather than with the device freezing by attempting to use the Hardware Keys. If there is a response, continue troubleshooting as a Touch Screen issue. Is there a Screen Protector installed on the LCD? If so, remove it and test the response from the Touch Screen. Screen protectors can interfere with the sensitivity and accuracy of the Touch Screen.
HTC Tilt Touch Screen Repair Service available at Dr. Cell Phone
Attempt to re-align the screen by going to Start>Settings>System Tab>Screen and then tap on Align Screen or press and hold the Center Navigation key and then press the Internet Explorer Button. Note: To ensure accuracy, Screen Alignment must be completed using the device Stylus and no other object.
Does the issue coincide with a recent program addition (including skins, dialers, etc)?
If the issue began around the same time that you installed a 3rd party application(s) on the unit, remove the program(s) by going to Start>Settings>System Tab>Remove Programs:
HTC Tilt 3rd party application removal method
After all 3rd party applications have been removed, Soft Reset the device by inserting the tip of the stylus into the reset hole on the bottom of the device. Once the Soft Reset is complete, retest the unit.
If the issue is no longer present, add the 3rd party applications back one at a time, testing thoroughly after each add. If the issue returns after the installation of a 3rd party application, do not use that application and contact the provider to see what other options are available.
If the preceding troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, perform a Hard Reset on the device. The preferred method for a Hard Reset is via Start>Settings>System>Clear Storage however, if the device is frozen or the Touch Screen is unresponsive, the Hard Reset will need to be performed by pressing and holding the left and right soft keys while performing a Soft Reset. Warning: All data will be permanently deleted from the device during the Hard Reset process!!!
 HTC Tilt Hard Reset
Once the Hard Reset has been completed AND the automatic Customization process had been allowed to complete, the user will need to thoroughly test the unit; if the issue returns i.e the touch screen is still unresponsive then send in your phone to the expert technicians at Dr. Cell Phone for HTC Tilt Touch Screen Repair/Replacement.

Here is a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for HTC G1 charging and Power Problems, for all the HTC G1 users who have problem charging their phone or have trouble holding charge on their phone. As you proceed with the basic diagnostic on your HTC G1, you will narrow down the problem to the exact issue. After you figure out the issue, you can try to fix it yourself but we do not recommend you taking apart the phone as that would void the warranty and could worsen the problem as well. We would recommend you arrange your phone to be fixed by one of the Dr. Cell Phone’s highly experienced Technicians.
HTC G1 Repair and Diagnostic at Dr. Cell Phone
Device will not power on
1.Inspect device & battery for signs of physical /liquid damage. If found, warranty is void.
2.Press & hold the Power key for 3 seconds to verify that the device will not turn on.
3.Check the USB Port for any bent or misshapen PIN’s.
If found, that is considered physical damage not covered under the Warranty.
4.Remove battery and inspect contacts.
Remove any debris/residue found on the device or battery contacts with a soft, dry cloth.
Look closely at the battery contacts on the phone to see if they are bent out of shape.
If some are found, that is the most likely cause and this is considered physical damage not covered under the Warranty.
5.Verify OEM Battery and Charger are being used.
Aftermarket batteries/chargers can damage the device and voice the warranty.
6.Attempt to charge the device/battery.
Charging is indicated by a solid amber light in the Notification LED. As the battery is being charged while the phone is on, the charging battery icon is displayed in the status bar of the Home screen. After the battery has been fully charged, the LED shows a solid green light and a full battery icon displays in the status bar of the Home screen.
7.If the device status light does not stay solid Amber or solid Green when the device is plugged in, try the following:
Plug the charger into a different power outlet.
Try a different device charger.
Try a different battery.
But wait, there’s more …..
