Troubleshooting: T-Mobile G1 Charging/Power – Repair Options available

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Here is a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for HTC G1 charging and Power Problems, for all the HTC G1 users who have problem charging their phone or have trouble holding charge on their phone. As you proceed with the basic diagnostic on your HTC G1, you will narrow down the problem to the exact issue. After you figure out the issue, you can try to fix it yourself but we do not recommend you taking apart the phone as that would void the warranty and could worsen the problem as well. We would recommend you arrange your phone to be fixed by one of the Dr. Cell Phone’s highly experienced Technicians.

Device will not power on

1.Inspect device & battery for signs of physical /liquid damage. If found, warranty is void.

2.Press & hold the Power key for 3 seconds to verify that the device will not turn on.

3.Check the USB Port for any bent or misshapen PIN’s.

If found, that is considered physical damage not covered under the Warranty.

4.Remove battery and inspect contacts.

Remove any debris/residue found on the device or battery contacts with a soft, dry cloth.

Look closely at the battery contacts on the phone to see if they are bent out of shape.

If some are found, that is the most likely cause and this is considered physical damage not covered under the Warranty.

5.Verify OEM Battery and Charger are being used.

Aftermarket batteries/chargers can damage the device and voice the warranty.

6.Attempt to charge the device/battery.

Charging is indicated by a solid amber light in the Notification LED. As the battery is being charged while the phone is on, the charging battery icon is displayed in the status bar of the Home screen. After the battery has been fully charged, the LED shows a solid green light and a full battery icon displays in the status bar of the Home screen.

7.If the device status light does not stay solid Amber or solid Green when the device is plugged in, try the following:

Plug the charger into a different power outlet.

Try a different device charger.

Try a different battery.

  But wait, there’s more …..
